MEDCO FOUNDATION
Since its inception, the Medco Group has always taken an active lead in corporate social responsibility. As the success and business ventures of the Medco Group have expanded, so has the amount of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Medco Group consolidated all CSR activity under one entity: Medco Foundation.

Medco Foundation unites all the CSR programs into four main areas: community capacity building, community economic development, environmental sustainability program, and disaster aid. Aside from creating employment opportunities within the company, Medco Foundation feels it is imperative for the company to give back some of its good fortune and profits to benefit the local population of Indonesia.

A case in point is providing entrepreneurial initiatives for residents around Medco Group’s working areas in some provinces in Indonesia. The foundation also takes an active role in natural disaster relief, such as the 2004 tsunami in Aceh, the 2006 earthquake in Yogyakarta, the West Java Tsunami in 2006, and the recent Mount Kelud eruption in East Java. Aside from providing the necessities victims will immediately require after a disaster, the foundation also maintains a group of doctors and volunteers ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice.

Medco Foundation firmly believes in its strong commitment to the environment and also to the national interests of Indonesia. This is seen in the foundations strong participation in the One Million Trees planting program, as well as the recent organic rice development which prevents further climate impact in its cultivation methods. Through Medco Foundation, Medco Group is fulfilling its belief to do business with the heart to reach a balance in order to give back to the communities throughout Indonesia and to help the country grow and thrive as the Medco Group has.
